Legal Glossary: Search and Seizure

The Constitution prohibits law enforcement from unreasonable search and seizure of private property. This includes premises, vehicles, and an individual’s body. Police may even search and seize a person’s blood in the case of a blood-alcohol test. Police must provide probable cause to the courts for the prosecution to present evidence conducted by search.
